Who is Ms. Jimenez?
My last name is a Spanish name, but it came to me from Mexico. My father's parents came to this country close to 1900 and settled around La Placita church downtown. My mother is of Irish-English decent and originally settled in San Francisco and Utah. My mom and her 8 brothers and sisters lived and grew up on 95th St. and Figueroa St. before the 110 freeway was built. They attended St Michael's Catholic School and swam at the pool in the park across the street in the summer months.
I grew up in Northeast Los Angeles and graduated from California State University at Los Angeles (CSULA) with a Bachelor's degree in Urban Learning in 2008 and a Master's Degree in Math Education in 2011. At CSULA, I also earned two teaching credentials: multiple subjects and Introductory Math. I have 13 years experience teaching middle school math and two years experience teaching middle school science.
Some of my hobbies are crocheting, hiking, solving math and word puzzles, and jigsaw puzzles. One of my goals is to speak Spanish fluently, so I love every opportunity to practice! If you have any questions or concerns please contact my through ParentSquare or my professional email [email protected].
